Thank you to the Cub Scouts and Cub Parents, Families, Friends, for making Cub Scout Pack 134 successful !
Welcome to Pack 134!
“What is “Scouting”? Scouting is learning by discovery and discovery by doing. It’s fun, friends, and family where skills are learned, confidence is built, and memories are born. A Scout knows the buddy system; learns to trust and be trusted. A Scout who hikes and camps learns to appreciate the outdoors and take care of it. And a Scout who’s a part of a Den and a Pack has a genuine sense of belonging. Prepared. For Life. Scouts meet here!” From BSA National
Community Service
Community Service is a foundation element of Scouting. One of the most important communities in a Cub’s life is his school, where he spends most of his awake time for nine months of the year. Cub Scout Pack 134 dedicated this September, the beginning of the school year, to improving the Eastern Elementary Community. While not every Cub at Pack 134 attends Eastern, we selected it as a community service.
Eastern’s Main Entrance Sign: The main entrance sign is a beacon, a symbol, for the Eastern Community. The old main sign on the front of Eastern was made of plywood, hand painted, and certainly was made with love. It served for many years and was ready for a rest!
Cub Pack 134 replaced the sign with a new one made of aluminum, fiberglass and nylon. Cub Pack 134 worked hard to raise the money, design the sign, remove the old sign, build a frame for the new sign and install it. Thank You Cub Pack 134!
Eastern’s Playground: If you read the kid’s writing assignments posted on the school wall, we’ll find that recess for most kids is their #1 favorite activity! Cub Pack 134 rolled up their sleeves, got out the paint brushes, and gave the Playground an update. It looks much better! And who else do we thank? The Eastern Elementary PTO paid for the paint and supplies, and we say THANK YOU PTO!!! In June, 2012, Cub Pack 134 will finish the playground painting.
Smart Boards
The kids love the Smart Boards! And the Eastern Elementary PTO worked hard to make it happen before school started. This is an important teaching/learning tool and Cub Pack 134 would like to thank the Eastern PTO and all of the parents, friends, and families that donated generously to purchase and install the Smart Boards.
POPCORN !!!
Thank you for every Cub Family for supporting this very important fundraising event. Kara Madion and Dan Madion graciously volunteered to Chair this project. This year we sold around $13,000 to $14,000 of popcorn, which generates around $4,000 for our Pack, with the remainder going toward the cost of the popcorn and to support the Scenic Trails Council operations, which includes Camp Greilick.
